What's MPOX and why has WHO declared it as global health emergency

Let's come to the point directly

MPox (Monkey Pox) is a viral disease which was discovered in late 1958 by scientists as "pox" during which there was an outbreak of Illness like chicken pox and small pox.

• What Caused "Mpox"

Well, its occurance has come from countries located in Africa where it's quite common to consume or come in contact with monkeys, This time it's because of the monkeys which were infected. Major countries that are affected by MPOX are Rwanda and Burundi, which share a border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It has also spread to other East African countries, such as Kenya and Uganda.(Info from HT)

However WHO has not declared this as a pandemic but has said that it's an emergency that needs to taken before it's too is because in 2018, MPOX did spread from Nigeria to UK and other countries as well. (Info from the Internet)

1. What are the symptoms.

   
   

People infected with Mpox often get a rash that may be located on hands, feet, chest, face, or mouth or near the genital areas. The rash eventually forms pustules (big white or yellow pimples filled with pus) and scabs before healing.

2. How does it spread.

The disease can spread through direct skin-to-skin contact, contact with saliva, upper respiratory secretions (snot, mucus), bodily fluids or lesions around genitals, prolonged face-to-face interactions (such as talking or breathing), contact with objects, fabrics, and surfaces that have not been disinfected after use by someone with Mpox. Pregnant women with Mpox can pass the virus to the fetus during pregnancy or to the newborn during and after birth.

3. What are the precautions.

This is unclear because most of the symptoms are quite common for other kind of illness also, although surprisingly Small pox vaccine can be used to cure this disease but people who've been vaccinated will not develop small pox in the later stages of life. Wealthy nations have eventually stopped production vaccines for small because humans rarely get this disease anymore.
